The unique water-soluble, chemical matrix protects RNA effectively from degradation by RNases and reactive oxygen species by utilising specific inhibitors, while preventing water-based strand breakage with the removal of water during the drying process. With the addition of GenTegra RNA, samples are stable in their fluid state for up to 105 h at 37 °C. Dried RNA-samples can even withstand short-term temperature fluctuations between ‑80 °C and 76 °C, and storage at room temperature for up to 4 years is possible. RNA-samples are recovered by using nuclease-free molecular biology grade water, and 5 cycles of drying and rehydration are possible.
GenTegra RNA thereby provides a practical solution for safe and inexpensive transport of RNA samples without the addition of dry ice packaging, making it ideal for global collaboration projects between labs. After rehydration, no additional purification steps are necessary. The samples are ready for many follow-up applications such as Illumina-sequencing, RT-qPCR or expression-arrays.
